Alcoa Mosjoen 'Fittest Company' in Norway

  2011 SEP 14 - (VerticalNews.com) -- Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced that its Mosjoen location has been recognized as Norway's 'fittest company' for 2011 in the large, private company category in an annual competition. Alcoa Mosjoen was awarded the title based on its 'Alcoa in Shape' program, which promotes employee health and community volunteerism.

  The 'Norway's fittest company' competition runs from November 2010 until May 2011, and is sponsored by Dagens Naeringsliv, one of Norway's leading finance newspapers, and Norges Bedriftsidrettsforbund, the Norwegian Confederation of Sports. A range of companies compete in five categories: medium and large businesses in the public sector; and small, medium and large businesses in the private sector. Participants are rated on various criteria, including employee involvement, physical conditioning, sports facilities and activities, and overall promotion of healthy lifestyle.

  The jury report stated: "Alcoa Mosjoen is focused on physical activity and has initiated several new actions during the competition. This distinguishes them from the nearest competitors in its class. The employees of Alcoa Mosjoen have shown great capacity for creativity and innovation through continuously expanding the range of activities and generated more return on each dollar invested. Out of the 420 employees, 300 have participated in at least one activity."
